MetaTrader 5 was built by MetaQuotes, the maker of MetaTrader 4, to correct the missing aspects of MetaTrader 4 and provide a better user experience. MetaTrader 5 primarily aims to provide ease of trading in the markets such as stocks and commodities outside the Forex market. Furthermore, in MetaTrader 4, the individual records are opened for each transaction according to the F.I.F.O (First in first out) rule, while the positions in MetaTrader 5 platform are recorded in total. According to this rule, if the investor opens 1 lot EUR / USD buying position and then adds to this position, the first opened position should be disposed of first during the closing process.
As a result of this visible simple difference, comfort is provided to the investors in terms of the overall volume. Let’s illustrate this with an example: When you open 2 1-lot trades against your 1 EUR / USD purchase transaction 4 times via MetaTrader 4, all positions are kept separately on MetaTrader 4, so F.I.F.O. When the rule is processed, you have 6 open positions and the system starts to close from the first opened transaction onwards.
When you make the same transaction on MetaTrader 5 (4 units of 1 lot and 2 units of 1 lot), you can see 2 transactions by looking at the system transactions. Thus, it is more difficult to close all transactions at once.
Another feature of MetaTrader 5 is that it also makes Expert Advisor (Transaction / Strategy robots) operations much easier compared to MetaTrader 4 and all Expert Advisor systems running on MetaTrader 4 work with the same stability in MetaTrader 5.
The best feature of MetaTrader 5 compared to MetaTrader 4 is that it allows backward trading strategy tests on multiple products.
